Waffen SS officer’s cap. Well made with velvet cap band, silk lined interior with soft leather sweat band, with stampings on the inside. (See Schiffer’s ‘German Headgear in World War II’ by Moran & Maguire. Page 20-21) Visible stitching does not fluoresce which is correct for the age, the white waffenfarbe does, which is also correct for the woollen composition. The visor has age crackling, the chinstrap is unfortunately not present. The plastic sweat shield is stamped ‘SS’ in gold. Sold as seen.
