A smokebox numberplate, 51253, from a Lancashire & Yorkshire Railway 260 Class 0-4-0ST No 298 built at Horwich in June 1910, becoming LMS No 11253 and withdrawn in store from 1924 to 1928. It later became BR 51253 and was the last of the class, universally known as pugs, to be withdrawn. A long time Bank Hall engine from January 1935, it had periods on loan to the North Thames Gas Board in 1951/2 and to the Ford Car Co in 1962 and 1963 before finishing its days at Speke Junction from where it was withdrawn on 21 June 1963 and cut up at Horwich Works. Ex loco condition. (Postage Band: D)
