Star Lot: An exquisite antique genuine Italian made mandolin, dating to the early 20th century. Crafted from the finest rosewood, with alternating strips of maplewood and rosewood creating a striped back. Delicately inlayed with mother of pearl and fitted with a tortoiseshell scratchplate. Bridge crafted from ebony, with the neck and head crafted from rich mahogany. Five strings intact. Sticker to interior obscuring original, and reads "Genuine Italian from Birkett's..." with the rest indistinct. Accompanied by original case. A masterful piece of craftmanship.
