A RARE AND IMPORTANT SOUTH INDIAN SILVER INALID BRASS OR BRONZE JAIN SHRINE WITH ROCK CRYSTAL DEITY, 15TH - 16TH CENTURY

A South Indian Jain shrine, crafted from brass or bronze with intricate silver inlay, dating to the 15th-16th century. This exquisite shrine features a rock crystal deity seated in the padmasana (lotus posture) within a highly ornate architectural framework. The deity is flanked by finely detailed attendants, celestial beings, and auspicious Jain motifs, including a dharmachakra (wheel of dharma) above the figure.

The shrine is adorned with layers of miniature figurative carvings, including animals and devotees, meticulously rendered to reflect the artistic mastery of the period. The back of the shrine features inscriptions in a regional script.
