1573 Elizabeth I third/fourth issue hammered silver threepence with scarcer acorn mint mark (S 2566). Obverse: taller, crowned, left-facing bust with ear visible and rose behind, acorn mintmark and 'ELIZABETH: D: G: ANG: FR: ET. HI: REG' around. Reverse: long cross fourchée quartering a shield of royal arms with the date (1573) divided above. An acorn mintmark the legend which reads 'POSVI' DEV. AIVTOREM · MEV.'. Weight: 1.44g. Diameter: 20.3mm. Grade: F - Fine details, particularly the legends, some excessive metal over the 'E' in 'REG'.
