A fine Victorian officer's sable busby of the 7th Hussars, gilt bullion waist cord; gilt laced scarlet bag, gilt roped chin chain, white ostrich and vulture feather plume with gilt ring and holder in its tin; lining trade marked Hawkes & Co, 14 Piccadilly. This busby with an original tin case named to W. Paget Tomlinson and with linen bag. Note: Lieut Colonel William Paget Tomlinson (1877-1962), joined the 7th Hussars in 1900, and saw service in the Boer War (QSA 5 clasps),2nd Lieut 19.9.1900, Lieut 27.7.02, Capt 12.4.10, Major 23.7.19, during WWI he saw service in Mesopotamia and was awarded the D.S.O. (London Gazette 2.4.1919) VGC £1000-1200
