Keith Richardson-Jones (1925–2005) Untitled work with two black lines to a white background, signed in black ink to canvas on verso, with the Redfern Gallery labels, acrylic on canvas, in white painted frame. 63 x 63cm. Note about the artist: Richardson-Jones was the son of a musician and studied at the Royal Academy Schools. Whilst there he was more interested in copying Trajan Roman letter forms than life drawing and this led the foundation for vocabulary of monochrome geometric paintings and reliefs. Akin to other similar artists such as Mary Martin, the structures of music and jazz in particular helped guide his work. In the 1970’s he exhibited both in London and Wales where he held a 25-year retrospective and in the 1980’s further afield in France and Germany. He is represented in a number of Public and Corporate collections including the Tate Gallery and the National Museum of Wales.
