A COLLECTION OF AMERICAN WORLD WAR II D-DAY NAVAL OFFICERS MEDALS BELONGING TO VIVIAN WHITEWRIGHT WARREN PEARL,

Including a Deus et Libertas medal (Military Order of Foreign Wars), as well as medals for Occupation Service, American Campaign, Asiatic Pacific Campaign, European African Middle Eastern Campaign, a collection of miniatures and two gold coloured and enamel pins.

Belonging to Vivian Whitewright Warren Pearl, ‘Perkie’ (1916-2006) are a fascinating collection of American World War II D-Day Naval Officers Medals. Perkie was born to Major Frederick Warren Park and Amy Lea, who had travelled on the Lusitania together with four of their children, two of which were tragically lost and the other two, including Perkie, survived. The family settled in London where their children were educated in England. At the inception of World War II, Perkie joined the U.S Navy, serving in both the Atlantic and the Pacific. After becoming a Captain and commanding a landing craft for troops on D-Day at Omaha beach, Perkie was commended for his services. His mother Amy cultivated a strong relationship with the RNLI and helped to form the Lifeboats Charity. Together with his sister Audrey, Perkie later raised enough funds for a D class lifeboat which was named the Amy Lea. The charity, which held such significance, has continued support from the family to this day.
