PLATE 34 - KI - TIED TO COVER BY SCARCE "MISSENT TO/SWINDON" - Aug. 1843 E to Chippenham with a fine four margin 1841 1d red tied by part MX and additionally tied by a very fine and scarce oval Swindon missent mark; TAUNTON & CHIPPENHAM ds/cds on the flap. We have only handled two other examples of this mark in the last 20 years and neither was used in this way, tying the stamp; a very attractive usage. Purchased in 2019 for £1100 + BP.
