Property of a gentleman of title - a carved sandstone head of Buddha Muchalinda, Khmer Empire, Cambodia, Angkor Period, 11-12th century, on hardwood stand, the head 11ins. (28cms.) high, 17.25ins. (44cms.) including stand. Provenance - Sir Anthony Rumbold, 10th Baronet, acquired while he was Ambassador to Thailand, 1965-67, and thence by family descent to the present vendor. A letter from the vendor confirming the above accompanies this lot.
