1860 COVER PAIR, BERGEN TO BIRMINGHAM: 17 Apr. 1860 wrapper Bergen to Birmingham franked with a pair of 1857 3sk lilac 'Oscars' (affected by filing crease) and 8sk dull lake 'Oscar' well clear of crease, but over hanging edge. Octagonal "HULL/SHIP-LETTER/AP23 1860" mark in blue and 24 Apr. Birmingham arrival cds. The second wrapper, to same addressee is dated 27 Apr. 1860 with same franking as previous, but the 3sk pair with slight staining and perfs. over hanging edge and 8sk with blind corner perf. This cover has an oval Rotterdam transit mark on front and 2 May London arrival mark on reverse. Also on the front, 2-line "BRITISH" (ms "4") and "FOREIGN (ms "10")" charge marks in red.
