A pair of Victorian silver mounted opera glasses, 'EL' Birmingham 1882, the floriate embossed glasses, 6.5cm high, within a fitted leather case with wooden backed hinged lid (at fault)

More Information

The glasses are working and can be focussed, however the focus mechanism is loose and appears to be lacking a section at the base. As a result the eyecup lenses do not retract into the barrels without manual manipulation. The focus ring shows a full depth split, but remains functional. The brass eye cups show some dents, and the silver barrel sleeves show surface wear and polish residue throughout. The leather case shows heavy wear to the exterior, and deterioration and losses to the interior lining.
