An original limited edition (42/75) mezzo-tint intaglio print titled "Ben Tianavaig" featuring an atmospheric landscape of the titular mountain on the coastline of the Isle of Skye. Hand-signed in pencil by artist Tom Mackenzie. Plaque to base of frame reads as Gaeilge " Presented to Eamon O Cuiv TD Minister of the State of Ireland, in celebration of his Barn Speech 9th September 1998." Mackenzie sells well on the primary market, with printed artworks have sold online for £350 at www.williamshannonfineart.com

Living and working on the Isle of Skye, the printmaker Tom MacKenzie (b.1947 - d.2018) is renowned for his colour etchings of the island and the West Coast of Scotland. The visual richness of Skye – the jagged coastlines and monolithic rock formations; the wild island sea and the haunting misty air – gave MacKenzie enough research that would sustain his artistic career spanning many years. Within his work, MacKenzie strives for simple and harmonious compositions but these are often hard-won; plates are often worked and reworked before he achieves a satisfying result.
