The Rover P5 series were produced by Rover from 1958 until 1973. Marketed as the Rover 3 Litre, Rover 3.5 Litre and Rover 3½ Litre, 69,141 units were built. The P5 appeared in September 1958, as the 3-litre. It was powered by a 2,995 cc engine. A Mark I-A line, introduced in September 1961, featured a minor restyle with added front quarter windows, modifications to the engine mountings and the automatic transmission and hydrosteer variable ratio power steering became options.

The Mark II version of the P5 was introduced in 1962. It featured more power, and improved suspension, and quarterlight windows. The most notable addition to the range was the Coupé body style launched in 1962. Four doors were retained, but the roof line lowered by two and a half inches, and along with thinner b-pillars, gave the look of a hardtop.

The Mark III was introduced 1965, and described at the time as "even more luxuriously trimmed and furnished". Available as a Coupé or Saloon. The Mark III used the same engine as its predecessor, but it now produced 134 bhp. Externally it could be distinguished by the full-length trim strip along the body and Mark III badging, internally it replaced the rear bench seat with two individually moulded rear seats, making it more comfortable to ride in for four occupants but less so for five.

This 1964 Rover P5 3 Litre is described by the vendor as an excellent rust-free example, finished in Old English white with light blue leather, with 70,000 miles on the clock. It is said to be a three owner car, which has just had over £2,000 spent on it, including a new clutch, new brakes, and all new suspension bushes. The car was delivered new to South Africa, and so is likely be totally rust free. It is totally original, and has books, brochures and a sales catalogue. The seats were re-upholstered in original light blue leather 2 years ago, and it has a £750 set of brand new Pirelli white wall tyres. It wouldn't take much to make this very original low mileage car into a superb example.
