Four postcards showing Henry Alexander Jr descending Ben Nevis in a Ford model T in 1911, the cards produced for Alexander & Co car dealers of Nottingham Place Edinburgh. Alexander & Co were owned by Henry Alexander who in an effort to promote his business of selling the American made Ford in the Scottish market had organised for his son, Henry Alexander junior to drive the model T from sea level in Edinburgh to the top of Ben Nevis in an publicity stunt to prove the superior quality and durability of the American made motor car. Reaching the top took five days an on the arrival at the summit the press were waiting to take photographs and indeed film some of the decent the following day. Further details and a video clip of some the decent can be found on the BBC website, https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-highlands-islands-44003271
