A VICTORIAN SILVER VESTA CASE

by Thomas Johnson II, London 1880, of rounded rectangular form, with a striker to each end, the hinged cover unusually opening via a discreet pressure mechanism to the back, the cover finely engraved and highlighted in yellow metal (gold?) with a crest and the motto PALMA VIRTUTI to each side. 5cm wide, 1.5 troy ounces



The crest is for the Palmer family - Earl of Castlemaine.
