A matched pair of George III mahogany framed Gainsborough library armchairs, each with stuff over serpentine backs swept arm supports, with moulded and chamfered square fore supports. 71 cm wide x 72 cm deep x 100 cm overall height, 47 cm height to the seat. The chair with the plain legs: An old crack to the arm terminals from poor reupholstery at some point, both arms are braced with a metal brackets from below, signs of old castors Chair with moulded legs: The centre stretchermismof period timber but may be a replacement. The legs seem to have had strips let in to rebates on the inner faces but a long time ago. Both arms show old breaks to the swept back arm supports. The frame of this chair is a little more loose.
