A 19th century Anglo-Indian padouk bar-back desk chair, carved throughout with floral and foliate motifs, 86.5cm high, 55cm wide
The chair has a dark finish over the timber, but it is not ebonised. The seat may have originally been drop-in, yes. There is a lip to the inner seat frame that would receive a drop-in seat.
There is a very little bit of movement in the joints of the chair, but this has not effected the structural integrity too much, it can still be sat in comfortably.
