An early 18c eight day longcase clock by Jo Cooper of Whitchurch, the 30cm square brass dial having female head spandrels, wheatear border and ringed winding holes. The movement has ringed pillars and is rack striking on a bell. It is contained in an oak case with flat topped hood and free standing fluted columns with Corinthian capitals flanking the dial. The long trunk door has a wavy top and is flanked by fluted quarter columns with Corinthian capitals. The base has a rectangular central panel and skirting with bracket feet. The clock stands 201cm tall.
The movement seems complete but needs cleaning. The dial has lost its silvering. the movement has a new seatboard. The base of the case has been cut down slightly at some time but the case is generally in reasonable condition.
