A worksplate, BUILT BY AND ON LOAN TO LONDON NORTH EASTERN RAILWAY Co, DONCASTER WORKS, No 1970, 1944, from a LMS Class 8F 2-8-0 No 8522 built to Railway Executive Committee order. It was loaned new to the LNER and sold to the LMS in 1946/7, becoming BR 48522. A long time Sutton Oak engine, it finished its days at Bescot, Stoke and Crewe South from where it was withdrawn in August 1967 and sold for scrap to Cashmores at Newport. Cast iron, 13¼"x7¼", the front repainted. (Postage Band: C)
