CIRCULAR "POSTA/CORFU/SETTINSULARE" MARK IN GREENISH BLACK ON SAILOR's COVER TO FRANCE; Fine small 10(?) Feb. 1808 EL (in French; full typed translation) from a French sailor to his father in Clamecy with a fine greenish-black "POSTA/CORFU/SETTINSULARE" mark nicely placed on the front, charged "15 [decimes]" with a fair claret-red boxed Naples transit mark. The letter includes; "After being at sea for 13 days we have arrived here... we ran into a fierce storm and by daybreak we had lost some masts... from the 3-decked flagship... the Admiral changed ship and went aboard the 'Magicien'... to search for 4 large vessels and 2 smaller boats which were missing. I'm in charge of all the repairs... Send my mail either to Corfu or to Naples, on which this island depends."
