WW2 1939-1945, Air Crew Europe Stars and BWM attributed to 1319761 Sgt Gilbert Charles Denman mint. He died when he was piloting a Lancaster of No 100 Sqn when it collided with another aircraft on their return from a raid on Berlin on 17th December 1943 and is buried in Croydon Cemetery.
Sold with original Air Ministry box of transmission addressed to Mrs H. Lintern (his mother had re-married), East Croydon, Air Council condolence transmittal slip named to Sergeant G.C. Denman, 2 RAF blue slips indicating 3 medals issued, 2 RAF pilot's log books, photo album with 178 photos including crashes, aircraft, family, aerial shots etc, Croydon Education letter of condolence, 6 modern photos of grave, Apprentice certificates, newspaper cuttings, copied research etc.
First entry in log book 16/2/42, qualified as pilot, posted to No 100 Sqn, Grimsby Nov 1943, flying Lancasters. His first Op was to Berlin 22/11/43 where JU88's evaded and suffered slight flak damage, he died on his return from his 4th Op. (See photo) (½B)
