1. WW1 Military Medal to 56691 Cpl R. Horsburgh 25/K.R. Rif C., BWM, Victory Medal and Territorial Force War Medal to 1689 Pte R. Horsburgh R. Sc Fus, MM nearly very fine, rest very fine or better, swing mounted as worn. Richard Horsburgh's MM was originally announced in the London Gazette dated 19th March 1919, but the service number was wrong and this was corrected in 3rd July 1919 edition. With copied MIC, LGs and roll, he served with 2/4th Bn RSF, 25th Bn KRRC and Labour Corps, from Edinburgh. With Edinburgh 1919 WM peace medal.
2. Son's WW2 1939-1945, Atlantic Stars and BWM attributed to 553948 F/Sgt James Brown Horsburgh nearly mint. With Air Ministry box of issue addressed to R. Horsburgh, Edinburgh, Air Ministry condolence slip, RAF blue medal slips, Xmas 1941 Sgt Mess RAF Invergordon menu. He was killed in action on 4th August 1943 when his Sunderland flying boat from No 423 Sqn attacked U-489 south of Iceland and was shot down into the sea with the loss of 5 of the 11 crew. They had however badly damaged the U-Boat which sank before their eyes with almost all the crew surviving, and both the surviving RAF and German crews were rescued by 2 destroyers.
