A very early product of William Denny's yard on the Clyde (numbered '3' in their listings), Waterwitch was a 211-ton screw passenger steamer of 1845 engined by Caird & Co. Built for Taylor & Scott of Dublin, she later belonged to the Dublin and Liverpool SP Co. and T. Gray of Belfast, but foundered on passage with mixed cargo between Glasgow and Oporto at the entrance of the Bristol Channel 6th November 1861, without loss of life.
