Richard Lemon Lander was born in the Fighting Cocks Inn, Truro (now the Dolphin Inn) and educated at ‘’Old Pascoes’’ Truro, before joining a wealthy London family and travelling to Africa, with a prefatory analysis of the journeys Park, Denham, Clapperton this work contains accounts of Richard landers three expeditions through Africa. Lander will always be associated with the exploration of The Niger.
