owned by the fourth and fifth Earls of Lonsdale, beginning at Mono Island in the Spanish Main, 1st March 1881, then to Curaçao (March 8), Port Royal, Jamaica (March 7), passing Cuba into the Florida Straits (March 18), Staten Island (March 25) where Lord Lonsdale left the ship, the log remains silent until May 18 when the Northumbria finds herself in Cowes (the Earl having rejoined the ship), reaching her destination at Yarmouth, Norfolk (June 7), each leaf interspersed with a sheet of pink blotting paper, contemporary black roan -- 15 x 19in. (38.2 x 49cm.)
