Royal Sherwood Foresters Officer waist belt clasp circa 1855-81. Fine scarce silver plated interlocking example with matching numbers to both halves. Circlet inscribed ROYAL SHERWOOD FORESTERS; seeded centre mounted with Arms of Nottingham. Universal pattern rococo ends. VGC Royal Sherwood Foresters or Nottinghamshire Regt. of Militia became 4th Bn. Derbyshire Regt. on Friday 1st July 1881. “Royal” granted by Prince Regent in 1813 for Public Duties performed at the Tower of London, Bank of England etc.
