An impressive late 17th century walnut high-back side chair, in the Danial Marot manner, circa 1690

The back with three ornate acanthus and scroll-carved splats, flanked by slender baluster-turned uprights, and topped by a high leafy C-scroll cresting, the stuff-over seat upholstered in ochre velvet with fringe, the ornate front legs of square tapering form, carved with hung foliage and headed with egg-and-dart carved turnings, the rear legs baluster-turned, joined by a curved X-form stretcher centred by a finial, 54cm wide, 140cm high, 58cm deep, 50.5cm high
