Queen Elizabeth of Belgium, a signed and dated 1927 photograph, within a gilt crowned frame, 35 x 29cm. together with a photograph of Sadek Wahba Pacha, signed Albert, dated 1926.
Purchased at "The Palace Collections of Egypt", an auction in Cairo, in 1954, offered by the Egyptian government and carried out by Sotheby's.
Elisabeth Wittelsbach, (1876-1965) was the third Queen of the Belgians, married Prince Albert of Saxe Cobourg Gotha (1875–1934), heir to the Belgian crown in 1900.
This famous image shows her wearing the Cartier platinum and diamond bandeau, purchased in 1912. In 1987 it was sold by her daughter in law, Lilian, back to Cartier, who occasionally put it on show.
Pacha was an Egyptian career diplomat, the photograph is signed by Kind Albert of the Belgiums.
