DUKE OF YORK (later KGVI) CORRESPONDENCE + SILVER BOX. 1935 - 1936 eight items relating to the friendship between the Duke and Duchess of York and Frank Webber L.R.I.B.A. architect and a director of the builders William Willet Ltd of Sloane Square following his tenure in charge of works at the Royal Lodge, Windsor. Includes three letters handwritten and signed "Albert" the Duke of York, a 1936 Christmas card depicting an aerial photograph of the Royal Lodge with its two new wings and a personal note from the new King "The House that Webber built" penned just days after his brothers abdication, also a beautiful silver cigarette box (139 x 92 x 46mm) by Garrard & Co. the lid inscribed "AE" under Crown given by their majesty's to Mr Webber, and a couple of envelopes hand addressed by the Duke. Accompanied by a letter from Mr Webbers son which relates the gifting of the silver box. An important and unique grouping. Lot 15 (B) [b]
