WWII - SERVICE SUSPENDED MAIL TO JERSEY - REPOSTED 5 YEARS LATER WHEN JERSEY WAS LIBERATED; 28 June 1940 env. (understandable slight wear etc.) posted the first time from Bridport to Jersey just two days before the Germans occupied the Channel Islands and so with "UNDELIVERED.../RETURN TO SENDER" and matching purple boxed "Service suspended" on the front; but then endorsed "TRY AGAIN" and re-posted from Bridport on 13 May 1945 (4 days after the Islands were liberated) with the same stamps and again to the same addressee, but clearly successfully delivered that time. Amazing (unique?) cover that waited almost 5 years...! Cross Reference: JERSEY POSTAL HISTORY, DORSET, MILITARY - SERVICE SUSPENDED, MILITARY - WWII
