S. Marti, Paris, a decorative brass mantel clock, the eight-day duration movement striking the hours and half-hours on a bell, with an outside countwheel, the backplate stamped with the trademark of the blanc roulant maker S. Marti et Cie, the round white enamel dial having black Arabic numerals and decorative floral swags, with blued steel moon hands, the decorative cast-brass case with applied mouldings, lions-head handles to the sides and surmounted by a cast-brass urn, height 44cm. Biography Samuel Marti is recorded at Le Pays de Montbéliard, Paris in circa 1860 making blanc-roulants, with workshops in the south of France in Montbéliard, having set-up in 1839 with Georges Moser at 13 Orleans-Marais. Marti joined Japy Freres and Roux in 1863 to market their movements to such firms as L'Epee from their address at Rue Vieille-du-Temple.
