BELLARMINE JUG. 8.4 ins tall, delicious ‘classic’ mid brown salt glaze - real ‘tiger glaze’ look. Bulbous body, rear handle. Posssibly Frenchen c. 1620-50? Atypical grumpy looking applied front face below a collared lip. Applied coat of arms cartouche below. Lots of character, superb in manufacture flaws/ kiln touch marks, affixed/ crudely made. A few minor base nibbles do not detract - see extra images on easyliveauction.com. A fine example of its type. NB: Last image shows all the Bellarmines for scale comparison (9/10)
