'The Dormer Desk'
An antique five drawer mahogany desk with tooled dark red leather and gilt inset top
Provenance
This desk was purchased by the Thatcher family in the 1960s and was initially located at their home in Kent, The Dormers. It then moved with them to 19 Flood Street in the early 70s. It was kept in the front room, and was where many of Baroness Thatcher's speech notes were written, most notably during the years 1975-79 during her time as Leader of the Opposition and prior to her appointment as Prime Minister in 1979. It then moved with the family to Chester Square in 1991, where it remained.
