RAF a B&W picture of W/O Tex Ash 411 Squadron (POW in Stalag Luft III) a signed picture flying his Spitfire, size 7"x5" in frame measures 10�" x 8" with COA. Tex William Franklin Ash RCAF was captured by the Gestapo in Paris in May 1942 after being shot down by JG26 at Vielle Eglise, after several attempts to escape he was eventually sent to Stalag Luft III where he remained until April 1945. Awarded an MBE and British citizenship for his escape attempts he managed to evade capture for several months with the help of the French Resistance. With copied pictures of Ash after interrogation by the Gestapo and picture taken in POW camp. Also a First day cover framed signed by Captain Konrad S Gruca USAF the cover is the 40th Anniversary of the First Operational use of the Mitchell by the RAF. The cover was flown by the 1st Tes Recon Sqn. in Italy. (2)
