A GEORGE II OVAL SNUFF BOX. with a stand-away hinge and the cover inset with a panel of mother-of-pearl decorated in relief with a stylised fish & bird, unmarked c.1740; 3.25" (8.2cm) long; 2.25ozt. A bit worn, an old repair on the hinge (exterior) inner border of the cover a tad loose, but not bad considering age.
