Volume I: Green cloth boards with gilt lettering to front and spine, one or two minor marks to boards, corners bumped and worn, slight wear to board edges, spine is age darkened with bumping to top and bottom, wear to spine, page edges are rather grubby, somewhat cocked, some foxing to end pages, front inner hinge is cracked but holding, rear inner hinge is starting to crack, text block is starting to crack and has one or two grubby marks but is generally clean, colourful frontispiece, pp.384. Volume II: Green cloth boards with gilt lettering to front and spine, boards are in a good condition, just a little shelf wear, corners bumped and worn, slight wear to board edges, spine is age darkened with bumping to top and bottom, wear to spine, page edges are rather grubby, somewhat cocked, some foxing to endpages, colourful frontispiece, rear inner hinge is cracked but holding, text block is starting to crack and has one or two grubby marks but is generally clean, pp.384. Volume III: Green cloth boards with gilt lettering to front and spine, front board shows water damage to top right corner, where cloth is darkened and wrinkled, corners bumped and worn, slight wear to board edges, spine is age darkened with bumping to top and bottom, wear to spine, age edges are rather grubby, somewhat cocked, some foxing to end pages, water staining to front end pages, front inner hinge is cracked but holding, rear inner hinge is starting to crack, frontispiece missing, text block is starting to crack and has one or two grubby marks but is generally clean, pp.384, 450 b/w illustrations, 12 plates.
