A NORWEGIAN SILVER COMMEMORATIVE BROOCH, WITH RUSKIN POTTERY CENTRE

a circular blue/ green lustre pottery plaque within a cast frame, depicting rural, industrial and maritime scenes and engraved Ja, vi elsker dette landet / 1814 Norge 1914, to commemorate the centenary of the Constitution of Norway, marker's mark Adolf Ruud, stamped '830S', plaque impressed Ruskin. 5.8cm diameter, 26.5 grams gross



Silversmith Adolf Ruud trained and worked as a silversmith under jeweller Carl Wessmann between 1906-1919, when he went on to begin his own company in 1920. It is believed this brooch was made as a personal project.
