The collection of Thomas William Glover (1858-1950) - two large photograph albums containing a total of 124 interesting albumen and silver gelatin prints of South Africa, some professional, others with ink manuscript captions, the first album with captions including Cattle Market, Aden, Steamer Point, Aden (panoramic), Somali Natives, Terminus of Uganda Railway, Encampment British East Africa, Bush Scene in Rhodesia, 31 photographs in all, mostly one per page (large format), the largest (excluding the panoramic view) 11 by 8.65ins. (28 by 22cms.), latter leaves empty, the second album including views of diamond and gold mines, natives, Rhodesia Racecourse, Ostrich Camp, Durban, Transvaal, Cape Province, etc., 93 photographs in all, the largest 13 by 9.25ins. (33 by 23.5cms.); together with twelve books relating to South Africa, some with references to Thomas William Glover and the units in which he served (a lot).
