A die-struck gilt brass centre from a rayed helmet plate, c 1840, of the Madras Horse Artillery, bearing the East India Company lion over 3 cannon shield with head and forelegs of a charging horse on either side, Union spray below with scrolls in Gothic capitals "Horse" and "Artillery", similar battle honour scrolls "Java" and "Mahidpore" along the top edge, 5 fastening holes (solder filled) to top edge. Very Good Condition Plate 2
