1958 MUNICH AIR DISASTER On 6/2/1958 the plane carrying the Manchester United team back from their European Cup Quarter-Final tie away v Red Star in Belgrade. British European Airways Flight 609 crashed on its third attempt to take off from a slush-covered runway at Munich-Riem Airport in Munich, West Germany. An engineer working at Munich-Reim airport at the time of the crash was asked to investigate the wreckage. He recovered 6 BEA food plates which are available in this lot. The engineer kept a diary and included as proof are 9 pages in German from his diary, plus an English translation. Also included is a vendor statement of how they came into possession of the plates. There are 6 copies of the prevenance, one for each plate. Good
