An officer's 1817 pattern helmet of The 1st Life Guards, silver plated skull, peaks and comb, with gilt edge binding, laurel sprays, scalloped edging to comb, large lion's head ear bosses, graduated backed, 4 foliate scale chinscales and rayed plate bearing crowned post 1816 Royal Arms with supporters and motto, POW's feathers, and scrolls "Waterloo" and "Peninsula", original large black fur crest, leather lining. Good Condition for age, retaining most original gilt (some surface distressing to skull and one small patch of cracks and small holes) Plate 28
