A WWI era 1854 pattern officer’s sword with HAC emblem to guard and engraved blade by Henry Wilkinson, London, numbered 56667, brown leather battle dress scabbard. Sword 56667 was made for a W.W. Burton HAC. There is also mentioned a Lieutenant-Colonel F.C.C Balfour. The dates of 17.3.19 and 17.8.20 are probably for the ordering and completion/collection dates – or when the sword was ‘proved’ (tested after being completed).
