George IV mahogany collector's cabinet, dated 1826, in the manner of George Bullock, the carved anthemion crest over two doors with ebony stringing, opening to two short drawers and four graduated long drawers, all with ebony cockbeaded edge and ebony knobs, over a feather reeded carved apron and faux stand with turned and reeded legs, width 46cm, depth 30.5cm, height 77.5cm
Note: A handwritten inscription in ink to the carcass reads 'This cabinet was made on board HM Ship Genoa in the Tagus 1826'. HMS Genoa, a Temeraire-Class gun ship, was involved in the Battle of Navarino in 1827, during the Greek War of Independence (1821-29).

More Information

The condition overall is good. The top has some water spots and fading. The doors have a lock and key that works. There are veneer slither losses to the right hand doors hinges. There are no locks in any of the drawers inside. The escutcheons are blind.
The left hand top drawer - the divisions inside appear unfinished. The top of the front right leg has a crack. It would appear that this leg has been off and re-attached at some point.
Overall an intriguing cabinet with some minor faults.
