James Thomson Skinner's MM was announced in the London Gazette dated 11th July 1940. The Fife Free Press dated 20/7/40 reported: "First Kirkcaldy soldier to be decorated in this war is C.S.M. James Thomson Skinner, son of the late Mr & Mrs William Skinner, 160 High St, Kirkcaldy. He has been awarded the Military Medal for bravery in France. CSM Skinner is 34, and joined the K.O.S.B.s when he was 18. He joined as a member of the band, in which he served for 13½ years."
He was commissioned Lieut in KOSB 25/4/41 and was wounded in Normandy with 1st Bn, while the date is not recorded, the other casualties on the list are June and July 1944. His LSGC was awarded 16/7/48. With copied LGs, casualty list and newspaper extract. (See photo) (R)
