A collection of English tiles, late 19th and early century, including an In Memorium tile inscribed 'In Loving Memory of the Late Thomas Green, the beloved son of George and Mary Green of 78 Stoke Hill Road Hartshill who departed this life March 23 1888 aged 18 years, for ever with the Lord gone Home'); Minton Hollins tile printed and hand coloured with a ram (cracked); seven assorted printed Minton and Minton Hollins tiles, six with floral decoration and one with neo-classical scene; a selection of majolica tiles, comprising pair of treacle coloured examples depicting Robert Burns, an unusual shield-shaped tile, circa 1870-80, decorated with two cranes beside bulrushes and a water lily, 19cm wide; a larger tile, possibly Steele and Wood, decorated with cherubs firing arrows beside a river bank, 20cm square; another, with a stag and doe, 15cm square; a Minton Hollins majolica Queen Victoria's Diamond Jubilee tile and another, Queen Victoria Golden Jubilee tile (also originally majolica, now exceptionally worn); and two Minton Hollins circular teapot stands decorated with flowers, 18cm diameter and a rectangular tile, printed with a farmyard scene of hens before a large barn (qty)
