PIGEON POST: Large binder housing a very fine Pigeon Post thematic collection on display pages. Many scarce & unusual items within. Includes Oct. 1870 'Ballon Monte' from Paris to Fontenay le Comte with m/s inscription "4eme" and a large copper commemorative medallion insc. "Ministere de la Guerre/Communications Aeriennes" & "PARIS 1870-71" depicting the release of a pigeon and issued to members of the Pigeon Fanciers Club of Paris ; a range of unused Great Barrier Island issues inc. 1897 "Pigeon Post", 1899 "Pigeon Post", 1899 "Pigeon Gram" and 1899 Marotiri Island issue, all values 1/- along with an unused 'flimsy' and a used, almost complete (corner damage) flimsy cancelled 20 Nov. 1902 relating to the sinking of SS 'Elingamite' on the Three Kings Islands; Govt. Pigeon Service requisition forms of 1915, baggage tags connected with pigeon carrying baskets, etc and a range of more modern Pigeongrams and stamps.
