Arthur Delaney (1927-87), UMIST under construction, oil on board, signed and dated 1971, 25cm x 32.5cm
Provenance: Attached to the reverse of the picture is a note handwritten by the artist which reads 'Just a line to explain the thinking behind the original of mine you have enquired of a building site. The site was UMIST under construction which I used to pass every day on my way to work which interested me. I made a quick pencil sketch from which I made this painting. It is interesting to myself to see the style I didn't even realise I had and I expect to a collector it may have a special interest as it is the sole picture of mine in the Impressionist style.
