WW1 Military Medal, BWM and Victory Medal to 15190 Pte W. Frearson 9/York R. nearly extremely fine. William Frearson's MM was announced in the London Gazette dated 16th August 1917.
With original typed citation signed Major/69th Inf Bde:
"At DICKEBUSCH on the 22nd June 1917 when the camp was being heavily shelled this man, who is a groom, immediately fetched his two horses away. While doing so one horse that he had hold of was killed by a shell and the other was wounded in the chest and tried to break away. Private Frearson pluckily held on, and although tow or three more shells exploded within 20 yards of him, killing a man he didn't let go ******* of safety. He set a fine example of courage and determination." The paper has been folded and repaired and in 2 pieces, so part of 1 line cannot be read.
With copied MIC and MM card, landed France 26/8/15 and missing a Star. (See photo) (R)
