** SCOTLAND - P.O.W. LETTER FROM LOCKERBY CENSORED BY "Wm. Martin" & ENDORSED "Not paid" IN RED ; Fine 6 Nov. 1813 EL (sealed with wafer) from POW "Felix [de St. Margueritte]" in "Lockerby" to his father "Baron Reynardi de Belveder" in Nice (redirected to Leveur) and most unusually endorsed "Not paid" in red and also signed "Wm. Martin" by the Lockerby Censor-Agent. It would probably have been sent via London to Plymouth and on to Morlaix, so it was charged "13" (decimes). The writer - in a diminutive but beautiful hand - says that he has had no letter for 3 months so he asks for news and money as he is under-nourished, although he says that potatoes are very good. This is the only recorded POW letter from Lockerby [but see also the next lot]. [See MFPWE, p.162.] Cross Reference: MILITARY - CENSORED MAIL, MILITARY - P.O.W. MAIL, SCOTLAND, FRANCE
